Types of Communication

Communication is a process of exchanging information, ideas,  thoughts, feelings and emotions through speech, signals, writing or  behaviour. It is necessary for building any kind of relations, for  example, a relationship between a patient and a doctor, between the  teacher and pupils, between the director of any enterprise and his  staff, between family members, etc. The communication between people  changes according to their functions, spheres, activities. The main types of Communication are Verbal (Oral and Written) and Non-verbal Communication. In  oral communication, spoken words are used. It includes face-to-face  conversations, telephone conversation, video, radio, television. One can  guess lots of things by oral communication (facial expression or body  language), but oral communication requires a quick reaction; you never  know beforehand what question you can be asked for.Written  communication is something we do while writing, such as reports,  essays, emails, letters, notes, chats. The advantages of written  communications are the following: while you write you can edit or revise  what you are writing before it is sent or presented. You can save it  for further study. I think writing is more easy that speaking. For  me, it is always easier to write than to talk about anything. While you  write, you don’t see the person whom you’re speaking, you can tell  secret things even to unknown people. I have found lots of friends from  different countries using written communication via mails and chats. The  disadvantages of written communications are that if you are presenting  something in a written form you do not know who will read it. This means  you will have to take more care of what you say and how you say it.There  is another type of communication non-verbal communication. Besides  gestures, body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, it also  includes appearance, clothing, room design, decorations. Communication  can also be formal and informal. Formal communication is used during  corporate meetings, conferences, etc. In formal communication, slang is  not used and correct pronunciation is required. Informal Communication  is just a casual talk. It happens among friends and family. In informal  communication use of slang words is not restricted. Informal  communication helps in building relationships.

                                                 A letter to incoming students

A new student in any class is always a great event for everyone: for the students, the teachers and the new-comer. It looks like a journey to another country with unknown customs and rules though even if you stay in the same town. As for me I also passed that way when I moved to our school from another school 4 years ago, and I was so much surprised and lucky to see within my new class-mates my old friends. I used to go to college with them at the age of 5-6 years old. I didn't even feel myself as a new-comer, as they helped me to make acquaintance with the rest part of class easily. First thing I would advice: find common friends before you move to a new school. It is very easy to do in our society. Any incomer passes through several phases of adaptation: at first all the students gaze at him attentively and often keep a distance at the beginning. Then one or two students, who have the class leader’s responsibilities, form the general opinion about the new student. As a result, a newcomer becomes an outcast or joins the team. Much depends on the personal qualities of new comer, his communicative ability, as well as lots of things depend on class teacher. The teacher should be aware of all family problems of the student to prevent problems or some questions. Lots of things depend on the parents as well. One more thing, a new student should know: classmates and teachers immediately want to identify its strong and weak sides. A new comer should be attentive and try not to lose his individuality. It is better to be as you are, not pretending and trying to be alike your new class-mates. A new comer should not identify his class into friends and enemies. Anyway any new student can have some problems. One thing that will help to overcome a problem: take the problem as an adventure, a task you should solve by any means. Any student should be taught to stand up for himself but sometimes it is better not to hear the mocks of classmates. Sometimes neglecting leads to success as well. A new comer should try to spend much time outdoor with his class mates. For example, hiking, visiting museums, exhibitions, etc. such outdoor events are very popular in our school As for our school, I think, it is easy for any new-comer to adapt. Though the education system and teaching approach is quite different, but it doesn’t interfere get used to it. Our school is equipped with modern technological facilities. But as any new student comes, he quickly involves in that process and there is no time for any other problems. The other positive thing our school has is freedom of choice. Any student can choose the area and sphere he likes or he can do the best. That is the great solution of not getting into stress.
